Figured I would let everyone know that I just ordered a bucket of the aquaforest reef salt (not the probiotic salt), to try something different. I have pretty much always used reef crystals, with a brief trial of red sea coral pro.....didn't like the high alk of RSCP. So if anyone has tried aquaforest reef salt, or any of their products, please feel free to chime in! I'm also very curious about the probiotic salt, I've heard mixed reviews and am afraid it's way above my skill set....has anyone here tried it and could you please explain your dosing routine and maintenance schedule?

Thanks!

Quick update on the new salt: corals seem to b doing good, getting better growth and color due to the stable alk, which stays steady @ 7.7-7.8dKH. SALT mixes nice and clear with NO residue in about 25-30min. So overall I like the salt, and really like the steady alk, when I was using reef crystals the alk would mix to 9.5dKH, and my tanks alk was in the high 7's.....so I would delay water changes for fear of my alk jumping around. It's only been a month and some change since switching to the Aquaforest reef salt, so this is just a mini update, I will report back in a month or so, I will also try to get some pics up later tonight or tomorrow to keep things intresting.....because what's a thread without pics???

Glad it is working out for you. Stability is king in the reef.

on a side note Alk in high 7s seems a bit low, but as long as it works for you. :)

The frags used to drive me crazy, but now they don't....their my babies!! I look at it now as a sign of success....and it's a constant reminder that I need to upgrade

What bothers me most is the 6 pumps in the tank, I need to do something about that!! Anyone have experience with the gyre type pumps? Was thinking about getting 2 of them for both sides.

I ran Gyre pumps on my 600 gallon tank when I had it. Worked excellent for moving water.
