So I was running two 165 watt dim able black boxes and a huge ugly diy led in the middle of my 180 but the blues went out after 3 years I run a 180 gallon tank its 6 ft long by 2 ft tall by 2 ft wide I wanna hear some ideas I want to stay led but don't wanna break the bank I'm just a poor white kid lol that's why I used the black boxes I mainly only do lps frogs hammers and torches candy canes and shrooms there's a deal going on eBay for 4 165 watt boxes for 400 or 4 of the 32 inch 300 watt fixtures for 650?? I'm stuck :?

Black boxes are good, but they do not seem to last more than 3yrs or so. However I would stay with LEDs.

Ya I really liked them a lot just don't like to have all the power cords that's my only downfall but they put out a lot of blue and I like that 4 165 watts for 400 isn't to bad or the 4 300 watt ones for 600!lol 1200 watts in a 180 gallon :whale:

If you had the 165w before, I would stick with what you had, unless you're upgrading to a higher quality light. Since you're wanting to stick to black box, it is probably good to stick with what you know works with your system.... plus it's cheaper and leaves you some cash for coral. :-)

Well i added 3 new 165 watt timer LEDs I may add 1 more corals are more happy :lol:
