YEAH I WOULD LOVE TOO. I DONT KNOW OF ANYONE THAT HAS THIS TYPE OF SET UP AND THE OVERALL CONSTRUCTION INVOLVED IN IT WILL BE KINDA EXTENSIVE SO I THINK IT WOULD BE A COOL THING TO HAVE MEMBERS HELP WITH AND SEE.

sounds like a great way to learn some things for the group.
Gerrit, you may want to consider metal frame for that size tank, but wood will work if done correctly.

I CONSIDERED DOING POWDER COATED STEEL LIKE IN MY CURRENT SET UP...BUT...THEN I REALLY COULDNT CALL IT A DIY. I WANT TO BE COMPLETELY SELF SUFFICIENT ON THIS ONE. SO FOR SUPPORT I WILL OVERBUILD THE FRAME WITH 2x6 STUDS USING JOIST HANGERS WITH A 2x8 SURROUND. FOR THE LEGS I AM GOING TO USE 4x4 POSTS. IT WILL TAKE A GRENADE TO TEAR THIS STAND APART. BUT, IT WILL GIVE ME A COMPLETELY OPEN UNDERNEATH STAND TO BUILD WHATEVER I NEED. THEN I HAVE LOOKED INTO SOME SEALANTS THAT SOME CONSTRUTION BUDDIES OF MINE USE ON HOMES IN FLORIDA AND MAINE TO WATERPROOF AGAINST SALTWATER DAMAGE TO TREAT ALL OF MY WOOD.

I approve. ๐Ÿ™‚

I had previously been in contact with some people at the AkSarBen Aquarium and they might do a behind the scenes tour if anyone would be interested. It's freshwater but might still be neat to see.

That is a great idea Trent
