Carbon Dosing

I want to know why some of you pick vodka, vinager, or biopellet and why?

I went biopellets as I have a hard time hand dosing consistently. I will be good a few weeks and then it will go to every few days to weekly.

I started with bio-pellets initially when I started this tank. It is easy, and a set-it-and-forget-it option. You basically only add to any depleted pellets every 6 months or so.

About 4 months ago I started dosing some of the Prodibio line and have seen great success with it as well. This isn't as easy as pellets, but the dosing schedule and method is so simple I thought I'd give it a try.

Vodka/vinegar dosing is just more complicated and labor-intensive lol. Anything effective that gives me more time to enjoy the tank will be the better option for me. ๐Ÿ™‚

I went with vinegar, because I dose via my auto top off, which can be somewhat sporadic this time of year with the central heating on. Vodka is less forgiving in my situation, and I have an issue sharing my booze with the fishes...

I dose Vodka and have for years. My current stable dose has been the same for about 4 years. I find it easy to dose and I add it to my top off every night. The Vodka also makes the Kalk more potent in the sense I can add more to the top off than I could if I was not dosing Vodka, so I am able to keep my Calcium where it needs to be with just my top off.

Manual dose Vodka 2x a day.

I use a BRS 1.1 ml/min to dose vinegar 4 times a day. The only labor involved is switching out a new gallon about every three weeks. I like vinegar because it's cheap and a bit more forgiving so I feel confident using a dosing pump.

This sums me up too, though for me its three times a day and my gallon lasts a tad (much) longer :side:

I dose vodka in my system. I love it and it makes a huge difference with exporting the nutrients. My reasoning behind it for me is that I like to feed heavy and my system is so large I would burn through RO and Salt if I was doing water changes. I use to dose manually but got the Aqua Medic Evo 4 dose pump not long ago so I just put the vodka on that and it's really simple. Every once in a while I will check to make sure it is still calibrated and it is always spot on. I like vodka over vinegar because I don't have to worry about using as much; having said that, it isn't as forgiving as mentioned above but hopefully dont have to worry about that.

For those of you dosing vodka or vinegar, how much do you dose in your system?
