600 Gallon Build
Thanks Phil. I decided I should just get as big of a tank as I could possibly fit in the house, so I don't have to even think about upgrading later on.
Exactly. Because all it takes in this hobby its just ONE bigger tank, and then we stop upgrading. πŸ™‚ Good luck Trent!

Well...You know your skimmer is a beast when they have to ship it on a pallet. I decided to just go ahead and order it and hook it up to my current system for now.

Wow...do you have a separate room devoted to it? I want to see some pics.

Did you end up getting the 8000 or 9000? My 5000ext sounds wimpy compared to those.

Trent,

When the system is completely done how much total water volume will you have in the system....DT, sump, refugium, system water, frag tank, QT etc?

600 display, 300 sump, 210 refugium/aclimation, 3- 40 gal stacked, 200 gal storage tank for water changes. So between 1400-1600 gallons total depending on which display tank I go with.

I went with the SRO XP 8000 external. It is the full cone version. I was looking at the 9000 but thought it would be a bit overkill and didn't want to spend $3000 on a skimmer.

Ha, you're going to need one of those 40 gallon tanks for daily top off alone πŸ˜†

What a monster system, I hope you let me sit in front of it some day and just stare at it πŸ˜‰

Couch, beer, and fish tank gazing!
