75 gallon reef move

12

Good to see another T5er around. Just some advice for when you upgrade to the 8 bulbs. Lower your amount of daylight time quite decently. When I went from 4-6 overpowered t5's, I had to constantly fight hair algae and red slime or cyano. Same thing happened when I added a seventh. Had to cut back the time and make sure I was changing my GFO/carbon weekly. (And this was with an ASM skimmer rated for 180). Anyways, it can't hurt to do so, and it was a HUGE pain. Eventually had to pull out 4-5 decent sized rocks and take the good ole wire brush to em in the end. After I made sure I had everything back in check, I slowly moved my daylight time back up.

The sump repair went well and no more leaks. Everything is now stable and levels are actually better than before the move with help of a dosing pump for Alk/Calcium. Current tests from today:

Nitrate: >1ppm
Phosphate: 0.00ppm
Calcium: 420ppm
Alkalinity: 10dKH
pH: 8.2

Current Livestock:
yellow tail damsel
blue-green chromis
engineer goby
sleeper gold head goby
coral banded shrimp
2- fire shrimp

Everything seemed to go into hiding when I took the picture.

Glad the sump repair went well, and the tank still looks great!

I finally got my Radion Pro's hooked up to replace the T5's. It's been less than a week and already starting to see some better colors and bigger polyp extensions. It is only running a peak of 70% right now. I am using two fixtures of the 75 gallon tank and just a have a little shadowing on the far left side. I might try moving the fixtures up another 2-3 inches.

KH: 8.3 dKH
Cal: 420ppm
PH: 8.0
Nitrates: 25ppm

Nitrates rose after a failed attempt to add some Macro Algae to my sump. It was my second attempt and everything died off again. My macro grows great in all my other tanks, so I think it is an issue with not enough flow. I'm now running GFO instead and need to do a descent size water change this week.

I need to move some corals around to better positions, but this is how it is right now.

Be sure to keep a close eye on all your corals for signs of stress. I have two Radion G2's over my 120 and I have a maze brain coral in my tank that starts to bleach if I have the intensity set at anything near 60%. My lights are about 6-8" over the top of my tank and that coral is at the lower third of my tank. I currently am running my Radion's at 45% peak and growing Acros just fine. Maybe you don't have any (over) light sensitive corals in your tank and won't have any issues, just something to keep an eye on B)

I'm running it in natural mode, so it only peaks at 70% for a short time. I will be moving the corals around slowly to find perfect spots for them. I have a light meter to help with that. I may end up having to dial it down a bit.
